Say it With Music: Miranda

I cannot be prouder of this six-year-old who has achieved what I deem a significant milestone. When her mother first brought her to me half a year ago, Miranda barely recognised any note on the music sheet apart from middle C. Her scores, despite decorated with note alphabets, had little effect in directing her fingers to the correct keys on the key bed. Being good in rhythm and time values were insufficient in producing music if one does not know which key to strike at a particular beat.


Today, she sight-read this new piece, eyes on a clean music sheet free from any note letters. When she hit a key different from the score, she automatically stopped to correct herself.
