BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
(What I Do Besides Teaching)
Music is undoubtedly an integral part of my life. Was my journey fraught with lows and challenges? Certainly. It was not a rosy path juggling both responsibilities and expectations required of me as a student with piano. There were moments so trying I nearly succumbed to the temptation of throwing in the towel for emancipation.
However, the challenges presented opportunities for personal development. I emerged stronger and my ardor for piano grew so much that my life without music would be unimaginable.
While my role to inspire and help students as a teacher brings me immense joy, there are other activities I do that impart a similar satisfaction.
I also perform for weddings and do recordings.

I have belted above 15 years' of active service playing for my church (and still counting). I also use my music skills to regularly contribute to my church's outreach events and major productions. It is humbling and joyous to serve.
Did you know it can take up to an hour just to perfect a few minutes of song? I gained this valuable learning while working with my church to produce this album containing my re-interpretation of familiar Christmas classics. It was a fun experience tapping onto my creativity to improvise and was worth the hard work when the album materialised. Praise the Lord! :)
Did you know that besides expressing yourself musically, singing is an essentially useful tool to strengthen your mental awareness and recognition of musical pitches? Piano may be my official forte, but I also relish adding my vocals, as seen at my university's orientation camp for freshman. So contrary to prevalent perceptions, perfect pitch isn't so much an innate "gift". It can be developed and with consistent effort and time to practise. So sing away for perfect pitch!
